Biography
Soprano Connor Murphy-White is an emerging young artist who has enjoyed a broad and varied performance career in opera, musical theatre, and theatre. Her performance highlights include the Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, Adina in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, and Ms. Silverpeal in Mozart’s The Impresario with University of New Mexico Opera Theatre, La Sagesse/Nymphe in Armide with Miami Classical Music Festival, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel with Red River Lyric Opera, the soprano soloist in Henry Mollicone’s Beattitude Mass with the Albuquerque Philharmonic, the soprano soloist for Carmina Burana with University of New Mexico Orchestra and Choruses, and the Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd while at Troy University. In Spring 2018 she won the advanced/young professional category for New Mexico District NATS, and was named one of two winners for the UNM Concerto and Aria Competition. In the summer of 2017, she sang Suor Dolcina in Suor Angelica with the Berlin Opera Academy.
Ms. Murphy-White made her professional theatrical debut in Boone, NC, as Nancy Ward in Horn in the West. In 2018 and 2019 she appeared in A Christmas to Remember with Blue Gate Musicals in Bird-in-Hand, PA and toured with Missoula Children’s Theatre performing The Frog Prince in the spring of 2019. In Spring of 2020, Ms. Murphy-White was contracted with Birmingham Children’s Theatre performing The True Story of the Three Little Pigs and role studied Tatyana in Eugene Onegin with Russian Opera Workshop (performances cancelled due to Covid-19). In the Fall and Winter of 2020, Ms. Murphy-White performed in The “Gut” Life with the Yoders and The “Gut Life: Christmas with the Yoders with Blue Gate Musicals at their Ohio venue. In 2021 and 2022, Ms. Murphy-White performed with Opera Birmingham for their community “Opera Shots” concerts, as well as returning to the Ohio Star Theatre to perform in The Best of Me and Josiah for President.
Ms. Murphy-White completed her Masters of Music Degree from the University of New Mexico, where she graduated with highest honors. While at UNM she studied with Dr. Michael Hix and coached with Dr. Kristin Ditlow. In 2015, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Troy University with a double major in Music Industry and Theatre. Ms. Murphy-White’s achievements while studying at Troy include being recognized as the 2015 Outstanding Music Graduate and being awarded an internship with Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) in Manhattan where Ms. Murphy-White assisted in the production of concerts at Carnegie Hall and David Geffen Hall (formerly Avery Fisher Hall).
